Dear Guests of Stone House Farm,
Welcome to the farm! This is a special place for our family and we hope you enjoy your time here as much as we do.
The following pages contain detailed information on using the property, including area recommendations and EMERGENCY SERVICES (p. 2). To start, here are some important things to help preserve this place for future guests and our family.
MOST IMPORTANT POLICIES:
Only your approved group is allowed on the property.
No noise or behavior that disturbs our neighbors, such as loud voices, music, or trespassing.
No smoking, discharging of fireworks or firearms, candles or incense. Fires only in designated areas and no breaking/cutting live branches or trees.
No pets, except with advance permission for a dog.
Vehicles not allowed off gravel driveway, in fields, or in Back 40.
CARE:
Please remove shoes upon entry and eat in kitchen and dining room only.
Manage screened windows and doors to avoid rain and bugs coming in.
Take care with the soft pine floors and stairs, which scratch and dent easily.
Supervise fire hazards: fireplace, gas stovetop, oven, toaster, grill.
TOILETS: Connected to septic system, so please flush only human waste and toilet paper. Use trash bins for anything else.
CHECK OUT: Thank you for checking out by 11 AM and leaving the home in excellent condition:
Kitchen: wipe surfaces, start dishwasher, kitchen items back in place
Towels: pile used towels in bathroom
Trash: place trash and recycling in garage bins
Close windows and shades, turn off lights, and lock door

THINGS TO BRING:
Clothes: Weather can fluctuate during any season, so bring a variety of clothes, footwear (including slippers for inside), and gear for warm, cold, wet, windy, buggy, and beautiful.
Drinking Water: The house is fed by a well—some are fine with that, others prefer bringing bottled water.
Toiletries: Sample size soap and shampoo are provided. A hair dryer is in each bathroom. Bring makeup remover wipes, as house towels discolor from makeup/lotions.
Other: Binoculars for wildlife and bird viewing. Flashlight or headlight for nighttime walks.
ADDRESS and NO THRU STREET: Enter 21211 Sawmill Road Jordan, MN 55352 into your phone to navigate to farm. IMPORTANT: A portion of Xanadu Ave, the gravel road just east of the farm, is marked with signs “PRIVATE ROAD, NO THRU TRAFFIC,” although it will appear to be a public road on your phone map. Do not use this road as you will be driving through our neighbor’s private farmyard. There are several other routes that lead to Stone House Farm.
ENTRY CODES The east door code is 0927. Top button lights keypad. Turn inside lever vertically to keep door unlocked if you don’t want to enter code every time you enter house. Garage code is 0928. Take care on concrete walkways around house, as they can be slippery with snow or ice.
CLIMATE CONTROL: Thermostat is located on main level wall between kitchen and bathroom. Set desired temp by soft-touching screen and pushing DONE. Keep in “PERMANENT HOLD” rather than “SCHEDULE" mode (where temp auto-changes at certain times of day). When outside temps are under 55 degrees, it’s helpful to lower all shades at dusk to minimize radiant heat loss.
TV / INTERNET: The farmhouse has a 40” Samsung LED TV with a Roku set top device for streaming television (e.g. DirecTV and other apps), two adapters (Apple and Android) for streaming directly from your device, a DVD player, and a digital antenna that receives 30+ local channels (change input on TV for antenna). Internet wifi password is Farm2204
KITCHEN ITEMS: Fully equipped (list below). Contact us if you have a question about a specific item. For hygienic reasons, no food staples (e.g. butter, cooking oils, flour, etc.) are left in the kitchen. Salt and pepper and baking soda are usually available but you may want to bring your own just to be sure.
KITCHEN SINK: Place scraps and grease in garbage and not down drain, as these can cause problems with septic system.
GARBAGE: Lower pullout cabinet to left of refrigerator contains trash bin and single-sort recycle bin (plastic, paper, glass, metal). Trash and recycle bags can be emptied into larger garbage and recycling cans in garage. Extra trash bags under sink.
STOVE and OVEN: Push knobs in before turning. Never leave unattended. Light and fan controlled on range hood.
DISHWASHER: Load knives and forks downward (otherwise, they catch and tear rubber gasket seal on side of dishwasher when opening/closing lower rack). After loading dishes, add liquid dishwashing soap located under sink to receptacle on inside left of door (3/4 full is enough). Push ProWash button on door followed by the Start button. Close door. Dishwashing cycle will take a couple hours.
MICROWAVE: Located to left of fridge. House plates and bowls are microwave safe, plastic cups are not.
WEBER GRILL: Grill is available during non-winter months. Grill utensils and lighter are typically under hood. Be sure to turn grill off after use, both the top dials and propane tank valve. As a courtesy to other guests, please keep grill as clean as possible and limit the amount of marinades. Extra propane tank available in garage. Instructions for operation:
Open grill cover before lighting. Underneath right side of grill, turn valve on top of propane tank one complete rotation counter-clockwise.
On right shelf of grill, push down and turn lower dial to START/HI.
Push ignition switch on right shelf to light burner (it may take a few pushes to light). If grill doesn’t light, turn off dials, get lighter or matches from drawer to right of fridge, and repeat steps 1-2, inserting a match into the small hole on the front right side of grill.
After front burner lights, push down and turn upper dial on right shelf to light back burner and then set both burners to desired temp.
NEVER leave ignited grill unattended.
Immediately after grilling, clean cooking grate with brush.
Turn both right shelf dials to OFF. Close valve on top of propane tank.
LAUNDRY: Washing machine and dryer in basement. Laundry tub must have plug with holes inserted in drain; otherwise, floor drain can’t handle rush of water. It’s always safer to run washer or dryer when present at the house.
SHEETS and TOWELS: Five sets of sheets (king, queen, two twin XLs) and six sets of towels (bath, hand, washcloth) are provided. House-supplied towels are only to be used for bathroom purposes.
FIRES: If burn restrictions are NOT in place (check here: www.dnr.state.mn.us/forestry/fire/firerating_restrictions.html), small, controlled fires are allowed in the following locations:
Outdoor fireplace on the patio
Fire ring near the flag pole
Split firewood is typically available on a cart near each location. More split wood is available under the eaves of a shed located about 100 yards to the west of the farmhouse. Dead sticks for kindling are available at fire locations or in a pile on the way to west shed. Do NOT break or cut live branches for firewood.
No candles, incense burning, or explosive or flammable materials are allowed in the house or garage, including fireworks, boat gas/containers, etc. The home is equipped with smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detector. If a fire occurs, call 911. A fire extinguisher is located in kitchen and bottom of basement stairs.
FANS: Bathroom fans are turned on by timer button. There are also a few portable fans in basement or bedroom closets.
WINDOWS: Double hung windows have outer storm window. Push horizontal tabs on lower part of window inward when raising.
TIMED LIGHTS: Outside lights and inside west entry table lamp automatically turn on dusk to dawn.
SNOW REMOVAL: The driveway is plowed when needed. There are shovels in garage for clearing walkways around farmhouse.
LAND USE: Foot travel only in Back 40. Please stay on trails to not disturb wildlife and plantings. Vehicles and bikes must remain on gravel driveway and not on lawn, fields, or Back 40. Occasionally an owner-approved person may come to the farm to work in the crop fields, water the garden, mow the lawn, drop off or pick up a stored boat or camper, etc.
GARDEN: Please do not enter the enclosed garden. If in bloom, you are welcome to pick some raspberries, pears, apples, and mulberries for eating on farm but do not pick to take home. Please do not pick from grape vine.
RECREATION: Four mountain bikes, ping pong, bean bag toss, ladder ball, boules (i.e. bocci ball), digital piano, two sleds, and assorted ball and yard games are available (all in garage except billiards and piano in basement). Cable lock for bikes if taking off the farm (code 1933). The horse shoe area is near the flagpole. Six-hole disc golf course starts at red bench (please see disc golf rules toward end of this document. The trampoline is NOT to be used by guests, per mandate of insurance company.
GAMES: An assortment of board games and cards are located in living room drawers.

Dog Policies
Thank you for abiding by the following:
Dog must be housebroken and under 60 pounds. One dog limit. No cats or other non-dog pets.
Dog must remain on main level only, never be on beds or furniture, and never be left alone for extended periods inside farmhouse, except if in a kennel (two medium size kennels 32" L x 23 W x 24" H are available).
Dog owner must bring their own dog bed, feeding bowls, and towels. House rugs, dishes, and towels are not to be used for dogs. Clean and dry dirty paws/coat before entering house. There is a hose outside east door for cleaning and a clothes line for drying towels.
Protect wood floors by not playing fetch and other dog games indoors and giving food and water in main floor bathroom. Quickly resolve scratching at doors, digging, etc.
Bring bags for picking up and disposing of dog waste.
There is lots of wildlife at the farm. Dog must be supervised outside (not wandering farm) and leashed if necessary so as to not enter trees, tall grass, or crop fields where birds and animals are nesting. Be aware that coyotes and birds of prey frequent farm.
There are rodent bait stations at the farm that are advertised as “kid and pet resistant”. For added safety, each plastic bait station is typically covered with a brick.
Disc Golf Course — Please Read Before Playing
There are six holes—all par 3.
First hole: starts at red bench in front of farmhouse and goes across driveway to basket on west side of flat field.
Second hole: walk back to driveway and look for orange plowing stake with orange ribbon for tee box of second hole, which goes toward basket near flag pole.
After each basket, look for nearby orange stake with orange ribbon as the starting point of the next hole—it will be short walk from last basket.
IMPORTANT: Discs will break windows and dent the siding of metal buildings so please start each hole from orange stakes or closer to basket. Guests are responsible for any damage.
